Welcome to ID's new evening classes: Wednesday Wind-Down Wednesdays - Open to all to attend
Dates:
7-8.30pm: 11 October – 29 November
£7 per class or £4 for professional dancers or concessions
The ethos of ID's programme is one that reflects our belief in the value of diverse body-mind techniques and how they can facilitate individual development. Our morning and improvisation classes offer a unique amalgamation of each teacher's experience in such forms as BMC, Aikido, Yoga, Feldenkrais, Alexander, Skinner Releasing, Chi Guong to name a few, and how they bring those into movement sessions.
These classes now offer the chance to experience these techniques in their "purest form" and will give both dancers and non-dancers the chance to discover new approaches to the body.
Each block will focus on a different technique - we begin with Yoga this term, move onto Body Mind Centring next term and then continue into other areas as the year progresses. Classes will run for 7-12 weeks as drop-in classes (please bear in mind that although sessions are drop-in they will naturally develop through the course of the term so continuity of attendance will offer the greatest benefits). We hope you enjoy these new sessions - if there is a technique you are interested in exploring please email us at: fiona@independentdance.co.uk.
'Moving with Greater Ease'
Awareness through Movement
Feldenkrais Method® with Thomas Kampe
In these classes we will aim to access our natural movement potential to find ease, clarity, freedom, and a greater range of movement choices within our daily activities.
We will use 'Awareness Through Movement®' lessons and playful one to one 'hands-on' explorations to improve fundamental movement patterns of our 'mobile centre' - our ribs, abdomen, back and pelvis.
"Moshe Feldenkrais has studied the body in movement with a precision that I have found nowhere else." - Peter Brook, Film and Stage Director
