How is ID financed?
Independent Dance is supported by Arts Council England through a National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) consortium partnership of which Siobhan Davies Studios is the lead partner.
In 2021-2, ID’s portion of the total grant from ACE is around 12%, at £71,068, which covers some but not all of our core operating costs; four part-time staff salaries, office rent and administrative overheads. In addition, we raise funds through grants, trusts and foundations and through individual donations. This enables us to do the work to create the programme.
ID receives no actual programming budget within the core funding from ACE. Our programme exists largely on an income-generating basis through delivering an extensive public programme and an MA/MFA. Siobhan Davies Studios rent us their studio space and part of their office at subsidized rates; this in turn helps ID to offer our programme at low cost.
We welcome donations all year round, and any donations to ID will help us to provide a vibrant, forward-looking programme that is relevant and exciting for today’s artists and audiences.
