Audio Dancing is a series of audio scores composed by dance artist Gaby Agis and recorded in green spaces in London.

Walthamstow Marshes (34mins)
Walthamstow, 8 August 2022

Accompanied by Eve Stainton, a London-based dance artist.

This audio score was recorded in an enclave of trees and small bushes on Walthamstow marshes during a prolonged summer drought. The score begins with walking, allowing our focus to be drawn to different aspects of the environment. As we move through the space, the dance explores clearing and dispersing energy, followed by brushing, stroking, and combing the tissues of the body. A vibrating dance draws on the energy pathways of the body, which leads into a wrapping, spiralling and spinning dance. The session concludes with the image of a veil trailing over the whole self.

Participants are then invited to continue moving, writing, drawing and exploring their creative practice.

Interview between Gaby Agis and Eve Stainton (28mins)

Eve reflects on their experience with the score and their relationship with Walthamstow Marshes during the pandemic. They discuss their collaborative approach to making work in the queer community.

Audio Dancing is an Independent Dance commission produced by Gaby Agis in partnership with Independent Dance and supported through public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
