Audio Dancing is a series of audio scores composed by dance artist Gaby Agis and recorded in green spaces in London.

Thamesmead, Southmere Lake (35mins)
Abbey Wood, 17 August 2022

Accompanied by Rachel Gildea, an Oxford-based dance artist and co-director of Blink Dance Theatre.

This audio score was recorded under a grove of willow trees on the banks of Southmere lake on the Thamesmead estate. The score begins with a dance where the legs find autonomy from the pelvis. This then gathers pace with the inclusion of the arms as the limbs expand into space. The willow grove gives rise to a twisting, spiralling, curling and coiling dance. This is followed by a dance that allows for an exploration of musicality.

Participants are then invited to continue moving, writing, drawing and exploring their creative practice.

Interview between Gaby Agis and Rachel Gildea (30mins)
Rachel reflects on her experience with the score and the way the natural world supports her dancing. She talks about her recent experiences of being a new mother and how working with other members of Blink Dance Theatre has led to new ways of working.

Audio Dancing is an Independent Dance commission produced by Gaby Agis in partnership with Independent Dance and supported through public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
