Join Sarah MK Archdeacon and Tom Marshman for the next ID Conversation part of Autumn Gathering.
ID Conversations are a series of live performative dialogues between two artists, which began in autumn 2025. The Conversation series was devised as an ongoing research project exploring performative conversations. Each Conversation is an opportunity to gain a different insight into an artist’s practice. Intended as an opportunity to reveal the process itself and to generate lightness of thought, towards undoing hierarchies of knowledge.
Sarah MK Archdeacon is a London-based theatre maker. Described as humorous and poetic her work draws from a variety of sources, including Zen philosophy, nuclear power plants, queer wallpaper design and the music of Yoko Ono. It is characterised by weaving together different threads and combining them with personal story to create space for thought and imagination.
Tom Marshman has 25+ years of experience creating performance that uncovers hidden histories and amplifies LGBTQIA+ voices. His work combines storytelling, archival research and live art, often using co-creation to build playful but profound spaces of dialogue. Strong track record of delivering projects, touring nationally, & working with museums, archives and communities to bring overlooked queer histories into public memory. Tom is currently Bristol Old Vic’s associate artist.
This Conversation will be guided by a score, devised by Efrosini Protopapa, that only the artists have sight of. The intention is to generate an interaction that is non-linear and which gives those witnessing an insight into Sarah and Tom’s practices and interests, as they explore generating and sharing knowledge, ideas and the (un)known.
Sarah and Tom may or may not riff off each other. They may or may not move. And they may not always be truthful.
Your invitation is to be one of the witnesses of this process, in a set-up that is intentionally relaxed and informal.
