The class is framed in such a way so as to notice and witness what we become curious and interested in. It begins with a short Feldenkrais Method®, Awareness through Movement exploration, as a preparation to integrate the experience of bone, breath, muscle, skin, weight and ways of relating to the floor. Tuning gradually into deeper sensations allows the possibility of being open to new pathways. How habits might become interrupted, and at the same time how they can be welcomed more fully for the gold they contain. Small dances and big dances!
We will move in solo, in small groups, and in the large group, creating and connecting together making the material of aliveness and recognition.
Movement and improvisation have been an interest since the age of 14 when I became entranced watching a street performance. Only with later dance training and years of improvisation practice did I begin to understand what this process might mean for me.
Practicing the Feldenkrais Method offered a body/mind/feeling intelligence which seemed like a complete breath of fresh air. Wanting to know more, I completed the Practitioner training in 2012. I now practice in London, working with a wide range of people. I continue to ask questions around performance and what the body can do. I bought my first car with takings from street performing, moving in the street; it was a good summer that year!
