Alexandra will lead improvisation through micro and macro structures that support phrasing relationships with oneself, the group and the space. Informed by the Laban/Bartenieff Movement System and dramaturgy, this session will offer some conceptual tools and poetic approaches for how movement material might develop, collapse, disintegrate, be composed and recomposed.
Come to dance, remember, forget, put it together, pull it apart, together, separately. The session will celebrate any movement language and invites it to be filtered through tasks and experiments in relation to its structures. Where does something begin in the body. In the relationship between two bodies in the space.

Yoga mats, blocks, cushions and ear defenders are available for use. We also welcome you being in contact if you would like to discuss the option of bringing your access support worker. Please speak to a member of the ID team if you require any assistance.
Cancellations and refunds
Prices for classes are kept very low and are subsidised by ID in order to support artists to attend. To keep admin manageable for our small team, we don’t offer refunds if you cancel or can’t attend a class, and we can’t transfer your booking to a different class/event. We hope this is understandable. If a class is cancelled or changed by ID however, we do offer refunds/transfers to everyone who has booked.
Laban/Bartenieff Movement System (LBMS) uses different concepts and explores moving them or putting them into action. For example, the idea of the ‘Kinesphere’: this refers to all the space around your body that you can reach into (above, in front, behind, to the sides, below etc). Your movement takes place in and reveals your Kinesphere. A movement task for this might involve increasing how much of your Kinesphere you can sense by exploring movement that uses a variety of directions, pathways, levels or how far you reach into the space around you with your limbs. This idea of the Kinesphere helps ‘map’ one’s personal space and that of others. It’s something you can sense as well as see.
