Monday Night Improvisation: Jessica Lerner

Jessica, with short gray hair stands barefoot in a sparse indoor room with white walls and dark flooring. She is wearing a long red dress and stands near a wall, lightly touching it with one hand while looking off to the side. The space looks minimal and somewhat like a studio or rehearsal room, giving the moment a reflective or performance-like atmosphere.

Responding to what is present in the moment, participants can draw out imaginative landscapes which are grounded in the details of the body. Through the simultaneous mapping of your interior landscapes in connection with the exterior space. This session will be informed by authentic movement practice.

Focusing on exploring what is present in your body, with a caring, self-supporting and inquisitive stance, you will explore ideas around allowing the dancing to come effortlessly through trusting your bodies’ imagination. Participants will find intrinsic musicality coming from dream-like states or alternative layering of being with your mind/body, working with and without music.

The class has an experimental approach and goes deep as well as being playful and has formally created a trusting group dynamic.
