Laura’s classes use the breath as a gateway to connect with presence and explore cyclical temporalities in movement. Through shared explorations of breath, you will observe its impact on movement and perception. These investigations will allow the participants to cultivate processes of renewal and resetting. And by engaging in physical explorations, partner work and shared reflections, you will bring awareness to non-linear directionality and how the body is anchored in space and time, with breath as a pulse that connects the two.
Throughout the session, related dynamics such as rhythm, pause and suspension will be playfully integrated, alongside questions about how some time settings create disruptions that, like glitches, alter or challenge flow. A sense of play will unfold as participants dance together, sensing juxtapositions and modes of coexisting within space, while negotiating shifting temporal structures.

Please speak to a member of the ID team if you require any assistance.
Cancellations and refunds
Prices for classes are kept very low and are subsidised by ID in order to support artists to attend. To keep admin manageable for our small team, we don’t offer refunds if you cancel or can’t attend a class, and we can’t transfer your booking to a different class/event. We hope this is understandable. If a class is cancelled or changed by ID however, we do offer refunds/transfers to everyone who has booked.
Laura Doehler (she/her) is an independent London based dance artist whose work features predominantly through her company Exit Map in the UK and Europe. The work rests in a variety of spaces which concern themselves with common ground and movement as relational practice that invests in socio-environmental sense making.
Her work is often cross-disciplinary (i.e. audio-visual site mappings, environmental actions, drama and film) as well as somewhat purist when it comes to improvisation and Contact Improvisation, where the here and now are the main collaborators. Since 2019, Exit Map embarked on residencies with Ponderosa e.V. in Germany (Radical Inclusion 2021 and Architectures of Togetherness 2022) and commissions (Catalyzing Collective Action, The Place 2024) to explore participatory and process-based encounters towards collective sense making. Laura teaches dance and movement in Higher Education at the National Centre for Circus Arts and across a variety of universities, and offers independent workshops across Europe.
