Rachel’s class will approach movement through the material body, interacting with and responding to the material world around us. Exploring self as embodied matter, participants will track the various textures, densities and flows of different body tissues, and how these emerge and interweave in movement. You will examine how your matter interacts and combines, shapes and is shaped, by the matter we come into contact and proximity with, playing with a range of materials and substances to explore resonances and responses in our bodies. From here you will venture into exploration of body in conversation with material space, how you can sculpt and be sculpted by the space we move in and bring these strands of investigation together in a celebration of body and world as one continuous, alive flow of matter.

Cancellations and refunds
Prices for classes are kept very low and are subsidised by ID in order to support artists to attend. To keep admin manageable for our small team, we don’t offer refunds if you cancel or can’t attend a class, and we can’t transfer your booking to a different class/event. We hope this is understandable. If a class is cancelled or changed by ID however, we do offer refunds/transfers to everyone who has booked.
Rachel Gomme (she/her) works across live art, dance, visual art and video. Her practice is rooted in bodily being and what it is to live as constantly evolving material body in a material world. Her work is often site-specific/site-responsive, with solo and group performance created for locations ranging from Boreal Forest to the Thames foreshore and city streets. She also makes interactive work, from one-to-one performances centered on mutual exchange of embodied presentness (sharing silence, breath, touch) to interactive walks celebrating the vegetal in the city, and she is currently working on a long-term project with south-east London street trees. She has presented work, performed, exhibited and taught throughout the UK and internationally.
