Morning Class: Amarnah Ufuoma Cleopatra

4 bodies moving quickly through a wooden and bricked space. One man of Jamaican decent in black and khaki clothing, one English man in a royal blue and navy blue clothing, one women of mixed Jamaican and English heritage in black clothing and Amarnah, a woman of African decent wearing red, yellow and blue clothing. Their bodies are blurred due to fast movement but you can see Amarnah’s smiling face looking towards the camera.

A black and white photo of Amarnah, a black woman of African decent, long black dreadlocks half up half down, wearing a cropped top. Her torso is framed in this photo, with her hands reaching towards her head, fingers spread, elbows pointed and lifted. Her gaze is to the right of the page, her facial expression is open.

During this week, you will develop your skills in Flying Low contemporary Technique.  You will refine the details in the movement pathways that lead you from the ground to standing as effortless and smooth as possible. Always originating with the idea of spiral movement pathways, you will flow in and out of the earth, moving as one group, using your eyes to connect with each other and the space equally.

You will also explore how Passing Through improvisation score can be used to instantly compose the space in exciting and unexpected ways. It begins relatively simple, but develops in its complexity and flare, to instantly compose the space with the people in the room.

There will be some moments where the voice will be used, exploring how different ways of using our voices individually and collaboratively can add to Passing Through scores or inspire our Flying Low Dynamics.
