We’ll be sensing in: cultivating sensitivity, expansion and awareness in our bodies and imaginations. We will move with the shapes, waves, curves and spirals found in nature. We will explore anatomy, physiology, fractals, density, gravity, expansion and cohesion, resistance, sensation, sound, push and pull.
On some days, we’ll dance to heavy rock and metal music. We will move with our inner seasons and discuss cycle syncing on others. Engaging the emotional being with curiosity
In communion with ourselves and others,
Dancing and being with emotion.
Attending to our inner worlds
And the worlds outside us.
Tactility will be at the heart of it, as will play. We will play stabilisation, proprioception, mobilisation games; physical play in partners and as a group.
The aim is to get into a detailed and delicious connection with the body and the entire self. To touch the texture, depth, energy and emotion of the body. I believe that to be deeply present in this vibrant flesh is a radical act, and one of the biggest gifts we can give each other for collective and individual health. I also believe that as a human species, some of our best learning happens through play – so let’s play using our closest companions – our bodies!
Note: The class can be taken as a self-exploration for participants, as well as a coming together to work in partners, trios and the whole group. Over the years I have loved dancing with people of a variety of ages, backgrounds and walks of life. All welcome.
Cancellations & refunds
Prices for classes are kept very low and are subsidized by ID in order to support artists to attend. To keep adminmanageable for our small team, we don’t offer refunds if you cancel or can’t attend a class, and we can’t transfer your booking to a different class/event. We hope this is understandable. If a class is cancelled or changed by ID however, we do offer refunds/transfers to everyone who has booked.
“I am a multidisciplinary dance artist, maker and producer. My work spans across theatre, film, animation, immersive and museum performances, with movement as a core vehicle for expression. My interests centre protest, dissidence, resistance.
My lived experience is as a queer, mixed-race, non-conforming human. I aim to broaden representation of otherness through the arts, nurture social cohesion and close listening, and inspire people’s curiosity into movement, theatre, and their own anatomy, emotion and embodied history. I believe to live embodied is a radical act. My lifelong experience within different cultures, contexts and speaking several languages sparks my passion for engaging in intercultural and multigenerational projects, and different ways of seeing.
I have danced in and choreographed for films commissioned by the Barbican, British council and BFI. My work has won awards and toured internationally and throughout the UK, and featured across international publications and film festivals, such as InterFilm Berlin, LA Shorts Film festival, Encounters; winning ‘Best International film’ at International Polish festival. Work as a performer has been featured in the Financial times, as part of London design festival, and awards include the ‘Screendance’ award at Flatpack festival, ‘best performer + choreographer’ at Fringe report awards, at DanzaFirenze and others.
I have loved collaborating with dancers and neuroscientists, visual artists and photographers, architects and designers, film-makers and writers, fashion brands, circus and community projects: always seeking to broaden my understanding of art, life and human connection through multidisciplinary work.”
