These sessions will work with somatic practices of moving, dancing and witnessing tuning to awareness and presence. Through changing pace and listening, being in relation and working through contact we will explore liveness and imagination. Currently working with sounding practices in solos and group formations, we will enquire into how voice and movement are connected, playing in this space through scores and facilitated practice.
An interest in improvisation and exploring the somatic is key. Please take care to get what you need, while experiencing where the unknown might take you.
Of English-Chilean descent, Fernanda Muñoz-Newsome (she/they) is a London-based artist, choreographer, dancer and researcher creating immersive performances and workshops. Through somatic practice and her process driven approach, she explores the potentials of solo and collective embodied power and the temporary building of micro-communities. Collaboration is key, crafting ecologies of liveness, risk, care, and access. Her work shifts perspectives, rippling between human and more-than-human space-time. Approaching dance and voice through the deep poetics of the body and the contradictions of how to be in the world.

During class, all participants are welcome to take breaks, observe, exit and enter the space as they wish. Lounge areas are available on the first and ground floors of the building. Yoga mats, blocks, cushions and ear defenders are available for use. We also welcome you to be in contact if you would like to discuss the option of bringing your access support worker. Please speak to a member of the ID team if you require any assistance.
Prices for classes are kept very low and are subsidised by ID in order to support artists to attend. To keep admin manageable for our small team, we don’t offer refunds if you cancel or can’t attend a class, and we can’t transfer your booking to a different class/event. We hope this is understandable. If a class is cancelled or changed by ID, however, we do offer refunds/transfers to everyone who has booked.
