These sessions will focus on discovering pathways into dance and sustaining a dynamic state of movement through attention, sensation, and availability. Together, you will explore what it means to enter and remain in an active, responsive dancing body.

Expect physical, energetic sessions where you will sweat while investigating rhythm, repetition, listening, contact, touch, and voice. Your explorations will be guided through a somatic lens, drawing from embodied anatomy and body systems, infant movement development patterns, and witness–mover practices.

Throughout the sessions, you will move in different constellations: dancing alone, with partners, and as a larger group. These shifting dynamics invite awareness of self, others, and the shared space of the studio.

Participants will be encouraged to play with changing pace, finding ground and support, activating imagination, and discovering pleasure in movement. You will also experiment with mark-making and writing, expanding how we experience and express movement.

The workshop is open to anyone curious about deepening their relationship with movement, sensation, and collective dance practice.

This week of morning class forms part of the MA/MFA Creative Practice: Dance Professional programme, meaning that there are a reduced number of public places available. If this class is sold out, please join the waiting list to be notified if a place becomes available.
