‘Funmi Adewole Elliott : ‘Funmi will share movement principles found in many African dance styles such as low centre of gravity, spine, foot and floor connections, the production of vibrations, rotations, undulations through the body, rhythms, dancing alone, with others, to music and in silence. She will also share ways of connecting voice, posture and gesture from her experience in dance drama. These explorations will form the basis for researching pathways of sensation through the body, and the visualising and performing of journeys through space.

Heni Hale : These 2 classes will invite opportunities for movement in relation to the anatomical and poetic landscapes of our bodies, its containers, membranes, boney structures and fluids and will zoom into a specific.  We will work with imagery as well as felt senses, including working with touch and dialogue. Touch will include our body in relation to itself, to the space and environment as well as negotiating the offering and receiving touch with other people in pairs. We will pay particular attention to how imagination affects physical states and observe the role of compositional structures, in inviting transformation. I like to oscillate between specific tasks and openness, between precision and abandon.

These classes form part of the MA/MFA Creative Practice programme, which means that availability of public places are reduced.

Cancellations & refunds

Prices for classes are kept very low and are subsidized by ID in order to support artists to attend. To keep admin manageable for our small team, we don’t offer refunds if you cancel or can’t attend a class, and we can’t transfer your booking to a different class/event. We hope this is understandable. If a class is cancelled or changed by ID however, we do offer refunds/transfers to everyone who has booked.
