The intention of the class is to open up space to flow, listen to and observe one’s self in chaos, in flux, in overwhelm, in stagnancy, as unfolding oracular text, without judgement. This practice is interested in what-is-already-t/here – the stuff that comes with us.
You will work with tuning, listening, opening, and moving with conflict, paradox, complexity and simultaneity. Listening in to your sensory capacities for noticing and feeling yourself and your environment – always in relation. Inviting the conditions to invoke states of wide focus and openness to the energetics and details of environment; being with your moving body as medium, channel, portal.
You will work from this thinking with scores that invite you to feel into and to reflect on agency, choice, desire and the roles we play in shifting constellations, towards dancing with more agility and presence.
SERAFINE1369 (they/them) is a dancer, choreographer and body-focused researcher. They work with/in the context of the hostile architectures of the metropolis towards moments and states of transcendence. Cycles, time and haunting are recurring themes in their work which they describe as being an oracular practice. Their current research is thinking of the intimate technology of dancing as a form of dowsing.
SERAFINE1369’s approach acknowledges the cosmic oneness of all things as manifested through ecologies of relation and the fact that everything is made of the same stuff. They are intensely curious about the magic and mysteries of life-processes of distinction, variation, cycles, decomposition; the inevitability of movement.
Their practice is concerned with the integrity and efficacy of structures (bodily and social), collaboration, hosting and an interest in somatics, semiotics and symbiotics from a body-led, experiential position. Their work prioritises listening and is responsive to the specificities of context.

During class, all participants are welcome to take breaks, observe, exit and enter the space as they wish. Lounge areas are available on the first and ground floors of the building. Yoga mats, blocks, cushions and ear defenders are available for use. We also welcome you being in contact if you would like to discuss the option of bringing your access support worker. Please speak to a member of the ID team if you require any assistance.
Prices for classes are kept very low and are subsidised by ID in order to support artists to attend. To keep admin manageable for our small team, we don’t offer refunds if you cancel or can’t attend a class, and we can’t transfer your booking to a different class/event. We hope this is understandable. If a class is cancelled or changed by ID however, we do offer refunds/transfers to everyone who has booked.
