Thomas Kampe – Performing The Moving Being: Feldenkrais & Dance Exploration
These classes will draw on The Feldenkrais Method®, in dialogue with dance & movement explorations, supporting participants find greater awareness, ease, freedom and new possibilities in movement choices and actions. These playful sessions allow for time to sense, witness and re-enact ourselves as living & moving beings. The classes will guide participants to experience their center, feeling for gravity & ground and expressive interaction with environment, with greater clarity and curiosity for change. The Feldenkrais Method® was developed by Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais (1904-1984) as a gentle & intricate embodied educational process concerned with self-discovery, wellbeing and improved function. It uses movement, sensation & reflective experience as organic learning modes.
Caroline Scott
Caroline’s classes explore how we embrace our habits whilst at the same time investigating new possibilities, not only in our movement but how we think, act and feel. The classes begin with a Feldenkrais® Awareness Through Movement, framed by a simple movement activity, for example shifting weight or turning. The classes will explore lessons (movement puzzles) which address the relationships between the spine and chest. Structured improvisations then allow this learning to feed into dancing and the ability to sense yourself on the ‘inside’, whilst being fully present in the performance space.
Classes are particularly relevant to anyone interested in diving deeply into sensing themselves where they are right now. The classes invite to go slowly and patiently to discover new qualities of moving, greater suppleness and stability through a simpler way of being. From here, the dancing self can emerge with playful curiosity. These classes may also be useful if you are facing challenges or limitations as a result of injury or the effects of ageing. Less is more.
This week of morning class forms part of the MA/MFA Creative Practice: Dance Professional programme, meaning that there are a reduced number of public places available. If this class is sold out, please join the waiting list to be notified if a place becomes available.

Cancellations and refunds
Prices for classes are kept very low and are subsidised by ID in order to support artists to attend. To keep admin manageable for our small team, we don’t offer refunds if you cancel or can’t attend a class, and we can’t transfer your booking to a different class/event. We hope this is understandable. If a class is cancelled or changed by ID however, we do offer refunds/transfers to everyone who has booked.
