Steve Valk proposes a vision of dance for the 21st century: that rather than considering itself as an art form, dance has become a principle, a creative force, a ‘vital life energy’, or perhaps ‘a technology of the self’ at the edges of modern consciousness. In addition, Valk introduces the (then) emerging field of Social Choreography as a real-world project of transformative aesthetic practice.
Steve Valk is a contemporary dance dramaturge, visual artist and designer, and currently the director of the first Institute of Social Choreography in Frankfurt Germany.
