Join us on the weekend of Friday 30 October – Sunday 1 November for Autumn Gathering: a weekend of moving, dancing, sharing and being together, following on from our Spring Gathering earlier this year.

Over the course of the weekend we’ll be offering workshops with Katsura Isobe, Katye Coe, Natifah White, Emma Lewis-Jones and SERAFINE1369, plus an ID Conversation with Sarah MK Archdeacon and Tom Marshman. There will also be an opportunity to share and witness works in progress.

On Friday 30 October, Sarah MK Archdeacon and Tom Marshman join us for our third ID Conversation – an ongoing research project exploring live performative dialogues between artists. Each conversation is guided by a score devised by Efrosini Protopapa. They seek to not only gain insight into the artists’ and their practices but to reveal process and move towards undoing hierarchies of knowledge. Sarah MK Archdeacon is a London-based theatre maker and Artistic Director of performance company Corali. Tom Marshman is an artist that creates performance that uncovers hidden histories and amplifies LGBTQIA+ voices.

Saturday dives into relational practices: somatic-orientated dance artist Katsura Isobe leading a morning workshop inviting you to work on the inner witness aspect of Authentic movement, a contemplative movement practice with its roots in dance, healing and spirituality. In the afternoon, dance worker, performer, facilitator and teacher, Katye Coe, guides big joyful dancing, driven by the acts of listening and responding.

Later on Saturday, we’ll gather together for sharings of works, ideas in progress – fragments of whatever you’re busy with. The invitation to share work or to witness is open to all sharing slots will be allocated via lottery. Find out how you can get involved here.

Sunday brings together strategies for collective exploration, embodied reading, care and introspection. Nottingham based dance artist Natifah White, shares a pop-up library and accompanying score. In her artistic practice, Natifah is currently applying movement principles to reimagine archive and library systems. Later on, you are welcomed to consider the ways in which a performance can be read with dance dramaturge Emma Lewis-Jones whose artistic concerns revolve around ‘strategies of critique as care.’

The weekend closes with the fifth iteration of Tuning Practice with SERAFINE1369, who has been guiding the space intuitively, offering simple invitations into dance. These invitations have allowed for navigating the unknown whilst anchoring in the pleasure, familiarity and connection that can be accessed through your own dancing body, guiding you towards your most liberated dancing beyond form.

Each of the sessions stand alone, but common threads of embodied thinking, relational spaces, sharing, witnessing and being alive to the moment mean they complement each other, offering the possibility of navigating the weekend in whatever way you choose. Our time together in the studio is interspersed with time to hang-out with friends, collaborators and co-conspirators old and new.  We’re looking forward to welcoming you all.
