ID Conversations are a series of live performative dialogues between two artists, which began in autumn 2025.
The Conversation series was devised as an ongoing research project exploring performative conversations. Whilst each event is an opportunity for those witnessing to gain a different insight into an artist’s practice, they are also intended as an opportunity to reveal the process itself, and to generate lightness of thought, towards undoing hierarchies of knowledge.
Each Conversation is guided by a score that only the artists have sight of, providing a framework to hold the interaction between two people that is non-linear and which allows space for interruption and distraction. Each Conversation is unique, giving us an insight into the artists practice and interests, as they explore generating and sharing knowledge, ideas and the (un)known.
For those witnessing, it is an opportunity to observe the choreography of the movement of thought, with the potential for connection as well as disconnection, as fragments of conversation emerge and disappear.
The artists may or may not riff off each other. They may or may not move in the space. And they may not always be truthful.
Your invitation is to be one of the witnesses of this process, in a set-up that is intentionally relaxed and informal.
These Conversations have been curated by Independent Dance, in collaboration with Dr Efrosini Protopapa.
